The World Summit on Sustainable Development 2002    
 

Developed the concept and was responsible for the day to day running of the Ubuntu Village, Wanderers Club, Johannesburg.

Formulated budgets and project managed the establishment of an infrastructure including power, water and other services. Appointed the professional construction management team.

Facilitated all logistical functions, including the construction of exhibitions and concert platforms. Selected and appointed outsourced contractors to handle services such as refuse, perimeter and internal security.

Negotiated contracts with the Department of Arts and Culture, Johannesburg City Parks Department, South African Post Office, South African Breweries, Computicket, event management and related companies for the supply of products and services.

Established a Health Safety and Disaster Management Plan, working in close contact with the South African Police Services, Metro Police Services, Ambulance and Fire Services and the Department of Health at national and provincial levels.

Managed the village on a day-to-day basis with a staff complement of 20 people during the period it was open to the public. Between 17 August 2002 and 7 September 2002 Ubuntu Village was visited by over 300 000 people. Served as the Village spokesperson in dealing with residents and local business in the Wanderers area.

Commended by the CEO of the Johannesburg World Summit Company for outstanding contributions to the success of the Ubuntu Village, which was regarded as an integral part of The World Summit on Sustainable Development 2002.
